The ECO Hotel Qualification Framework
Swiss Approval International adopted the European Ecotourism Knowledge Network (ECOLNET) criteria for Hotels sustainability evaluation and qualification as a world recognised Standard for sustainability of Hotels evaluation, qualification and certification.
ECOLNET has introduced and tested a new «standard» for labelling sustainable activities and
businesses in the ecotourism sector, Τhe European Ecotourism Labelling Standard – EETLS.
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) has already fully recognised the EETLS as an approved standard, giving to EELTS an international status and visibility.
The EELTS Standard has four (4) groups of criteria:
- Demonstrate effective sustainable management
- Maximise social and economic benefits to the local community and minimise negative impacts
- Maximise benefits to cultural heritage and minimise negative impacts
- Maximise benefits to the environment and minimise negative impacts.
